Una creencia com\u00fan es que si el ni\u00f1o no es capaz de hablar o de decir letras o n\u00fameros no pueda ser evaluado por un oftalm\u00f3logo. Pues todo lo contrario: no existe edad m\u00ednima para llevar a los ni\u00f1os a revisi\u00f3n. No s\u00f3lo eso, sino que si hay antecedentes de ambliop\u00eda (ojo vago), estrabismo (girar un ojo), refracciones elevadas a la familia, tener sensaci\u00f3n de que el ni\u00f1o gira un ojo&#8230; el adecuado es llevarlos lo antes mejor.<br \/>\nHay alteraciones que necesitan ser tratadas lo antes posible, ya que su pron\u00f3stico puede variar mucho en funci\u00f3n de la edad a la que se detectan. El sistema visual de los ni\u00f1os es un sistema pl\u00e1stico y a\u00fan en desarrollo que admite correcciones que en edades m\u00e1s avanzadas no son posibles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 cuando evaluamos la graduaci\u00f3n de los ni\u00f1os el ponemos gotas?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los ni\u00f1os, a diferencia de los adultos, tienen una capacidad acomodativa (de enfoque) muy elevada. Esto les permite compensar graduaciones y tener buena visi\u00f3n incluso en algunos casos donde hay una graduaci\u00f3n muy alta.<\/p>\n<p>El colirio ciclopl\u00e9jico paraliza la capacidad acomodativa y tambi\u00e9n tiene un efecto de dilataci\u00f3n pupilar que permite extraer de manera exacta y precisa la graduaci\u00f3n del ni\u00f1o y valorar totalmente el fondo de ojo y asegurar una buena salud ocular.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Autoras: Dra.
